Grew up in Sandusky, Ohio and started tattooing his friends in high school. Once Mike knew that was his calling he moved to New York City. He saw the legalization of tattooing and learned from many masters of the art. On a whim he moved to Vermont and stayed for over 20 years. Doing guest spots at Evolution over the years he developed a love for the area and permanently moved to NC.
